BE STILL & KNOW.
PSALM 46:10
BREATHE. MOVE. BE!
BE Still.
In the stillness, there is knowing.
I BELIEVE in the power of Stillness that comes from quieting the mind and shining the soul through the practices of breath, movement and meditation.
The accumulation of noise and concerns of our every more busy lives, has the potential to leave a residue that may feel heavy, confusing and even overwhelming at times. I know I have experienced this… the endless list of things to accomplish, fears for the world, worries about my family, the longing to accomplish greatness; all leaving me weary, bouncing between moving through my daily life in high speed, yet feeling lost and pulled elsewhere as a lingering sense of unclarity pulls at me that I should do more or be more. The result: aches and dullness of mind and body.
I believe that dedicating time to pause and become quiet, revitalizes our life force, restores our energy, and brings great wisdom and healing. The steps to that are the guideposts that direct the teachings I will share with you as a client and are as follows:
BREATHE. Breath is life. Each session connects you to the vital element of air, nourishing your life, and focusing your mind.
MOVE. Ironically, we learn to still the body by moving. Moving mindfully. Moving towards wellness and ease.
BE. Finally, we are ready to be still. When we become still, the magic of the practice time is found. All that you need to know is found int he stillness and presence of pausing and learning how to just BE!
I invite you to visit our sanctuary in the woods, to retreat and feel at home as you explore practices designed to bring stillness and peace to your path. All offerings are by appointment only and customized to individual needs. As an advanced level yoga and meditation teacher, I am trained and have extensive experience in areas of mindful education, physical alignment, breathing techniques and trauma sensitive support. As a guide on your journey, I am here to help you be still and know that you are supported on your personal path towards living well.
I believe yoga is a wonderful spiritual practice and entry point into a lifelong journey of self-discovery. Yoga has 8 components that I teach in 3 parts: Breathing; Movement; Stillness. These 3 teachings are woven together to bring a sense of deep peace and wholeness, where you learn to BE authentically you! Yoga continues to support my overall peace of mind, physical wellness and enhances my creative ventures as an artist; this is why I practice and why I am passionate about teaching. The practice of yoga, is accessible to all ages, abilities and beliefs. For instance, as a Christian, I am very interested in my my relationship to God, and use yoga to help still my heart and prepare my mind to receive His guidance and become a more loving and patient mother, wife and friend. As an artist, I have found that yoga enhances my creativity and clears out my mental clutter, so that I have insight that seems to magically guide my work and inspires me! As an overly active person (mind an body), I find that yoga is useful in helping me to become still and ease the aches and pains that accumulate in my joints and bring tension to my muscles and mind. These are just a few ways that I have found drawn to continue to practice and study yoga, and why I enjoy sharing it with others.
As your teacher, you can expect to receive a very integrative western approach to yoga via private sessions, by appointment. This individualized approach allows each students interests and needs to be the foundation of our time together and guides the instructions given. I honor the land, mother India, that yoga is deeply rooted in and have studied extensively for over 30 years; this brings each student the foundation and knowledge to answer questions about yoga’s philosophy, history and a deep knowledge base of practices of breathing, meditations and postures. I feel that yoga shines our bodies and souls, helping us all find greater connection and light, in our hearts and spread our unique light into the world around us. I hope to provide guidance and sanctuary for you to become still and get to know the light within you! Yoga teaches us to find oneness of mind, body and breath and the peace that enters into the quiet we cultivate.
I invite you to arrive & practice stillness with me.
